Name: Guzheng
Origins: Guzheng is an ancient
chinese instrument immensely popular during the Qin dynasty. It is responsible for being a forefather of the Japanese Koto and also other similar instruments of Asia.
Parts: Wooden body, movable bridges, strings (16 or 21) and S-shaped left string rest.
Usage: Part of a chinese instrumental ensemble (duo, trio, large group) and as a solo instrument.

Reason for Selection: We love the beautiful sound it makes and feel that this instrument is necessary in our school as it is an important part of our culture.
